WWYD? Challenging Cases: Mentee vs Mentor Sat, Oct 17 8:00-9:30 a.m. CDT

Mentorship is a critical factor in the training of all surgeons. In this session, challenging cases will be described and outcomes shared with the audience. Mentors will comment and discuss what they might have done the same as well as differently. Audience engagement tools will be used to capture your ideas and reactions.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate complex reconstructive cases as presented and compare alternative management strategies proposed by mentors.

  2. Assess differences in surgical decision-making between junior and experienced plastic surgeons and their impact on patient outcomes.

  3. Engage in audience-based voting to reflect on personal clinical judgment and identify areas for practice improvement.

  4. Integrate mentor feedback and audience insights to refine operative planning, intraoperative decision-making, and postoperative management strategies.
