Making Waves: Management of Implant Rippling with Surgical Strategy and Fat Grafting Fri, Oct 10 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CDT

This panel will review the current strategies for management of thin mastectomy skin flaps and subsequent rippling.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to :

  1. Understand that pre-pectoral reconstruction is higher risk than sub-pectoral reconstruction for rippling
  2. Identify the causes and risk factors for implant rippling, including implant type, size, and patient anatomy.
  3. Evaluate surgical techniques and strategies for minimizing or correcting rippling, such as adjusting implant placement (pre vs sub pectoral) or using different types of implants (cohesivity).
  4. Assess the role of adjunctive procedures (e.g., fat grafting or ADM) in improving aesthetic outcomes and reducing rippling in breast implant patients.
  5. Understand the impact of rippling on patient satisfaction and the potential need for revision surgery or other interventions to address this complication.
