LIVE Breast Ultrasound Panel Fri, Oct 10 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CDT

This session provides a comprehensive overview of the principles and clinical application of ultrasound imaging in aesthetic breast surgery. Faculty will review ultrasound physics, probe selection, and image optimization tailored to breast implant evaluation. Attendees will learn how to assess implant integrity, positioning, and surrounding soft tissue structures, and recognize ultrasound signs of common complications such as capsular contracture, fluid collections, and silent rupture. The session emphasizes the integration of point-of-care ultrasound into routine aesthetic practice to enhance diagnostic accuracy, communication, and clinical decision-making. Protocol development for ethical and effective use—including documentation, billing, and patient education—will be discussed, alongside real-time expert demonstrations across clinical scenarios such as primary augmentation and implant complication management.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the fundamental principles of ultrasound imaging relevant to breast implant evaluation, including basic physics, probe selection, and image optimization.
  2. Demonstrate appropriate scanning techniques to assess implant integrity, positioning, and surrounding soft tissue structures in aesthetic patients.
  3. Identify key ultrasound findings associated with implant-related complications, including capsular contracture, fluid collections, and rupture patterns.
  4. Integrate point-of-care ultrasound into aesthetic breast practice to support accurate diagnosis, patient communication, and clinical decision-making.
  5. Compare the advantages and limitations of surgeon-performed ultrasound versus radiologic referral within aesthetic breast surgery workflows.
