The Migraine Surgery Society (MSS) and ASPS invite you to this this expert-led session that explores the evolving landscape of patient selection, multidisciplinary management, and advanced surgical decision-making. Through focused presentations, challenging case discussions, and interactive expert panels, attendees will gain practical insights into managing complex, atypical, and revision cases while examining current controversies, emerging approaches, and future directions in migraine surgery.
This two-hour panel will be divided into three segments:
1) Advanced Concepts and Evolving Perspectives on Patient Selection
2) Variations in Surgical and Diagnostic Decision-Making in Complex Cases
3) Challenging Case Presentations and Expert Commmentary
Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:
Differentiate appropriate surgical candidates from patients with primary headache disorders or comorbid conditions for whom migraine surgery is not indicated, incorporating current diagnostic criteria and multidisciplinary evaluation strategies.
Evaluate evidence-based surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for patients with complex, atypical, or refractory migraine and headache disorders, including when referral to other specialties may optimize patient outcomes.
Apply advanced surgical decision-making principles to the management of revision cases, uncommon trigger sites, postoperative complications, and other challenging clinical scenarios encountered in migraine surgery.
Compare differing expert approaches to the diagnosis and management of complex migraine surgery cases, recognizing the indications, limitations, risks, and potential benefits of alternative treatment strategies.
Integrate current advances, emerging techniques, and evolving concepts in migraine surgery into clinical practice to improve patient selection, operative planning, and long-term outcomes.
