Access in Plastic Surgery Care Sun, Oct 18 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CDT

This session will explore the challenges and opportunities related to equitable access to reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery for minority and underserved communities. Through conversations with surgeons, patients, and advocates, the speakers will highlights barriers such as cost, geography, cultural awareness, and representation— while sharing resources, education, and real stories that empower patients to seek the care they deserve.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Analyze key patient-, provider-, and system-level barriers that affect access to reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery among underserved and historically marginalized populations.

  2. Evaluate strategies and resources that may help improve equitable access, patient engagement, and care navigation for individuals seeking plastic surgery services in diverse practice settings.
