Energy Based Adjuncts to Body Contouring Sat, Oct 17 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CDT

This session will provide an evidence-based overview of non-invasive and minimally invasive energy-based technologies used as adjuncts to surgical body contouring and as standalone aesthetic treatments. Faculty will review the mechanisms of action, clinical applications, efficacy data, and safety considerations associated with radiofrequency (RF) devices, high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology, cryolipolysis, focused ultrasound, and multimodal combination protocols. Emphasis will be placed on appropriate patient selection, treatment planning, realistic outcome assessment, and management of patient expectations across a range of body contouring indications. Participants will also explore current evidence regarding the integration of these technologies into aesthetic practice and strategies for counseling patients on procedural options relative to surgical and non-surgical approaches.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Evaluate the mechanisms of action, indications, and clinical evidence supporting the use of energy-based technologies for non-invasive and minimally invasive body contouring.

  2. Compare the efficacy, safety profiles, and limitations of RF devices, HIFEM technology, cryolipolysis, focused ultrasound, and combination treatment approaches.

  3. Apply evidence-based patient selection criteria and treatment planning strategies to optimize outcomes with energy-based body contouring technologies.

  4. Counsel patients effectively regarding realistic treatment expectations, potential risks, and the role of energy-based modalities as adjuncts or alternatives to surgical body contouring procedures.

  5. Analyze emerging trends and evolving clinical data related to energy-based body contouring technologies to inform integration into aesthetic practice.
