Building a High Performance Team Sat, Oct 17 2:00-3:30 p.m. CDT

Well-trained staff are the backbone of an efficient, patient-centered plastic surgery practice, yet many surgeons receive little formal training in how to develop their teams. This session outlines a structured approach to onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development that promotes consistency, accountability, and excellence across clinical and administrative roles. Attendees will learn how to create clear expectations, implement repeatable training systems, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement that supports both patient experience and practice growth.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify common causes of patient dissatisfaction in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery

  2. Recognize early warning signs of potentially problematic patient interactions

  3. Apply structured communication techniques to de-escalate emotionally charged situations

  4. Implement effective service recovery strategies while maintaining appropriate boundaries

  5. Reduce medicolegal risk through documentation, expectation management, and follow-up strategies
