Finger fractures are common but deceptively complex, with small errors in management leading to stiffness, malalignment, and long-term dysfunction. This 90-minute session features expert-led case presentations highlighting challenging finger fracture scenarios and contrasting management approaches. Faculty will discuss fracture assessment, decision-making between operative and nonoperative treatment, fixation options, and postoperative rehabilitation strategies.
Emphasis will be placed on practical pearls, avoidance of common pitfalls, and tailoring treatment to fracture pattern and patient factors.
Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:
Identify finger fracture patterns that require operative intervention.
Compare fixation and non operative strategies for common finger fractures.
Apply principles of alignment, stability, and early motion to optimize outcomes.
Recognize common complications and strategies for prevention.
