Panelists will provide current strategies for dealing with peri-prosthetic infections compared to the Spear algorithm from 2004.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Review the principles and key decision points of the Spear algorithm (2004) for management of peri-prosthetic breast infections.

  2. Compare contemporary strategies for managing peri-prosthetic infections with the original Spear algorithm.

  3. Evaluate current evidence and expert approaches to implant salvage versus explantation in the setting of infection.

  4. Apply updated management strategies to optimize infection control, reconstructive outcomes, and patient safety.
