Panelists will discuss the current advantages and disadvantages of using biologic vs synthetic meshes in breast reconstruction.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Compare the biomechanical properties, indications, and clinical performance of biologic versus synthetic meshes in breast reconstruction.

  2. Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of biologic and synthetic meshes with respect to complication rates, integration, and long-term outcomes.

  3. Identify patient and procedure-specific factors that influence mesh selection in implant-based breast reconstruction.

  4. Apply current evidence and expert consensus to optimize mesh choice and surgical technique in breast reconstruction.
