Contemporary Lower Extremity Reconstruction: Innovative Approaches to Trauma, Cancer, Chronic Wounds and Lymphedema Friday, October 10 Fri, Oct 10 2:00-3:30 p.m. CDT
This panel brings together innovative surgeons performing the full spectrum of lower extremity reconstruction (diabetic salvage, chronic wounds, trauma, cancer, lymphedema) to discuss a contemporary and comprehensive approach to lower extremity defects that focuses on functional restoration. The goal is to update our understanding and approach to these challenging problems and offer best practice recommendations for a variety of disease processes. The session would focus on innovative techniques and concepts and how to apply these to patients with lower extremity injuries.
At the completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to: 1. Discuss fundamental concepts in functional lower extremity reconstruction 2. Identify novel techniques and approaches in limb salvage surgery 3. List different strategies to minimize morbidity and enhance functional recovery in lower extremity reconstruction 4. Outline operative techniques and modifications necessary to treat challenging patients, including obese patients, co-morbid patients, and patients with complex defects.
