No Implant, No Problem: Advanced Strategies in Autologous Breast Augmentation for the Modern Patient Sat, Oct 11 8:00-9:30 a.m. CDT

As implant-free approaches to breast enhancement gain traction, this session will examine evidence-based strategies such as autologous fat grafting, auto-augmentation, and mastopexy. Participants will explore patient selection criteria, including BMI, skin quality, smoking status, autoimmune conditions, and other comorbidities that influence surgical planning and outcomes. The session will also address health equity considerations, particularly differences in breast surgery outcomes among patients of color and individuals with obesity or chronic illnesses. Techniques for reshaping post-explant breasts and innovations in mastopexy and fat grafting in the context of weight loss, including GLP-1 medication–associated changes, will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on best practices in fat grafting as a viable alternative to implants.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Evaluate alternative breast augmentation strategies without implants, including fat grafting, auto-augmentation, and mastopexy, using current clinical evidence.
  2. Assess patient selection factors such as BMI, autoimmune status, smoking history, and skin quality to optimize outcomes and minimize risks.
  3. Describe considerations for breast surgery among diverse patient populations, including patients of color, those with obesity, and individuals with chronic health conditions.
  4. Compare reshaping techniques for post-explant breasts, including auto-augmentation and fat grafting methods.
  5. Discuss recent innovations in mastopexy and fat grafting following significant weight loss, particularly in patients on GLP-1 receptor agonists.
  6. Apply best practices in autologous fat grafting for breast augmentation as an alternative to implant-based procedures.
