As the field of maxillofacial surgery continues to evolve, plastic surgeons are uniquely positioned to broaden their practice and impact. This session explores the importance of expanding the scope in maxillofacial surgery, highlighting emerging clinical demands. Participants will learn practical strategies to safely and effectively increase their scope of practice. The session will also address the key challenges surgeons may face, including credentialing, competition, and shifting referral patterns, while identifying opportunities to lead innovation and improve patient outcomes.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand importance of increasing scope in maxillofacial surgery
  2. Describe ways to increase scope of practice
  3. Discuss threats and opportunities in increasing scope of practice
