Cleft Palate Sim Session Fri, Oct 10 8:00-9:30 a.m. CDT

This interactive simulation-based session provides participants with a hands-on opportunity to explore the complex anatomy and surgical management of cleft palate. Using simulators, attendees will examine varying degrees of cleft morphology and gain practical experience in anatomical recognition and surgical planning. The session will emphasize the evaluation and diagnosis of velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD), guiding participants in selecting the most effective treatment strategies. In addition, faculty will demonstrate advanced surgical techniques and the latest innovations in cleft palate repair, offering learners direct exposure to contemporary, evidence-based approaches in a controlled, educational environment.

Upon the completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Recognize the anatomy of various degrees of cleft palate
  2. Focus on the evaluation and diagnosis of velopharyngeal dysfunction and identify the optimum treatment approach
  3. Present specific strategies, approaches, and the newest techniques of cleft palate repair
