Now more than ever before Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) have more of a presence and role in surgical subspecialties. As the number of APPs working in plastic surgery has grown their roles have evolved and there is a deficit in knowledge when it comes to how APPs can be utilized at the top of their scope to maximize efficiency throughout the breadth of plastic surgery.
Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss how advanced practice providers can be utilized throughout the entire scope of plastic surgery.
- Identify how and where APPs can be fully utilized throughout plastic surgery will allow both APPs and surgeons to identify how an APP could best be utilized in their own practice to maximize efficiency.
- Discuss challenges associated with APP utilization in a surgical subspecialty.
