Workhorse or Showhorse? Traditional & Alternative Flaps in Reconstruction Thu, Sep 26 8:00-9:30 a.m. PDT

This session will be divided into two components. The first half of the session will include a rapid-fire review of the most common workhorse flaps and most "en-vogue" novel flaps in reconstructive surgery, all featuring their expert proponents in our field. The second half of the session will include case presentations to the panelists who will share their reconstructive approach including flap selection and rationale.

At the end of this activity participants will be able to:

  1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of traditional and alternative flap techniques in reconstructive surgery, exploring the strengths, limitations, and considerations for each approach.

  2. Learn to discern between various flap options based on patient-specific factors, surgical goals, and aesthetic considerations, fostering a nuanced approach to flap selection in reconstructive procedures.

  3. Provide plastic surgeons with the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to optimize outcomes by selecting the most suitable flap techniques for diverse reconstructive scenarios.
