It's time to focus on separating the facts from the fiction. What do we KNOW about BIA-ALCL and Breast Implant Illness and what do we NEED TO KNOW to better care for our patients? This session will address the state of the science – using data, not antidotes – to separate truth from rhetoric, examine the viability of proposed solutions, and get real about the next steps our specialty can take to protect our patients.
Following this activity, the learner will be able to:
- Discuss the state of the science regarding BIA-ALCL and Breast Implant Illness.
- Describe areas of future study required to fill the current gaps in knowledge.
- Identify next steps that can be taken both from a specialty-wide standpoint and a local practice level to address concern regarding BIA-ALCL and Breast Implant Illness.
- Distinguish factual statements regarding BIA-ALCL and Breast Implant Illness from common falsehoods.
