Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy (CADAVER DEMO) Sun, Sep 30 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Focus on intraoral incision, avoidance of inferior alveolar nerve damage, discussion of treatment/backup plan for inadequate split/fracture, setting proper occlusion and minimally invasive fixation (bicortical screw vs. plate), with discussion of postop management. Along with understanding the principles necessary for successful implant placement that will allow the reconstructive surgeon to approach reconstructive options with downstream dental rehabilitation in mind.

At the end of this activity, the participants will be able to:

  1. Describe basic priniciples of osseous integration.
  2. Identify the basic bone needs for placement of successful dental implants.
  3. Explain the basic process of placing a dental implant.
