Gender Confirmation Surgeries: Standards of Care and Development of Gender Identity Mon, Oct 1 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Over the last several years, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of individuals seeking gender related surgeries. Additionally, our understanding of gender as well as the role of surgery in the care of gender diverse individuals has also evolved.

This panel will explore gender development in childhood and adolescence, highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care, and discuss important pre- and post-operative components of surgical care.

At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the development of gender identity
  2. Understand the multidisciplinary nature of care
  3. Understand important pre- and post-operative aspects of gender surgeries
