Swell Solutions for Lymphedema: Expanding Knowledge for Shrinking Arms Thu, Sep 26 8:00-9:30 a.m. PDT

Panelists will provide a detailed exploration into advanced lymphedema treatments and management strategies. Discussion topics will include prophylactic lymphovenous bypass, a cutting-edge preventative technique aimed at minimizing postoperative lymphedema risk. Lymph node transfer will be examined as a reconstructive option to re-establish lymphatic drainage pathways. In cases where lymphedema has already developed, therapeutic lymphovenous bypass offers a potential remedial intervention, and these operative techniques and their outcomes will be thoroughly discussed. Essential to all interventions is proper assessment; the panel will stress the importance of meticulous evaluation techniques to guide treatment planning. Additionally, the panel will tackle the complex issue of chest wall lymphedema.

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

1) Distinguish between various lymphedema treatments and management strategies 2) Identify key components of a patient evaluation 3) Understand how to develop a complete treatment plan
