Keeping Plastic Surgery Relevant: Multidisciplinary Collaboration for Neuroplastic, Orthoplastic, and Spinoplastic Reconstruction Thu, Sep 26 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. PDT

Multidisciplinary collaboration is part of the essence of reconstructive plastic surgery, and this close engagement optimizes surgical outcomes. This session will highlight the latest advances in strategic collaborations between plastic surgeons and our colleagues in neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery in the areas of peripheral nerve, spine, lower extremity, and illustrate the ways in which patient outcomes are enhanced. This discussion will also aim to suggest avenues for building a reconstructive surgery practice and provide ideas for establishing referral patterns and showcasing the value of the reconstructive surgeon to health systems and surgeons in other specialties.

At the end of this activity participants will be able to:

  1. Gain insights into the evolving landscape of plastic surgery through multidisciplinary collaboration, specifically focusing on the integration of neuroplastic, orthoplastic, and spinoplastic approaches.

  2. Learn about successful collaborative models, fostering a deeper understanding of how working with neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and spine specialists can enhance patient outcomes and expand the scope of plastic surgery.

  3. Inspire plastic surgeons to embrace interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting continuous learning and innovation to keep plastic surgery relevant in the dynamic field of reconstructive medicine.
