NEW! Oncoplastic Surgery for Lumpectomy Reconstruction: Expanding Your Breast Reconstruction Practice Monday, October 1 Mon, Oct 1 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
This course will review indications and strategies for timing of immediate reconstruction of lumpectomy defects. Instructors will present different techniques for oncoplastic reconstruction tailored to tumor and patient characteristics. The focus will be on achieving optimal oncologic and reconstructive outcomes and the importance of multi-disciplinary coordination of care with other treatment providers.
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify indications for immediate reconstruction of lumpectomy defects.
- Evaluate a patient planning breast conservation and develop a tailored oncoplastic surgical plan.
- Outline various oncoplastic approaches and feel comfortable selecting an appropriate approach based on pre- and intra-operative tumor and patient anatomy.
- Discuss best practices to avoid peri-operative complications and strategies for management if complications arise.
