Trustees Talk - Battlefields and Beauty: A Century of Conflict and Harmony Between Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery Sat, Sep 21 2:30-3:00 p.m.

In the nearly 100 years since its birth, plastic surgery in America has embodied a competing relationship between reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. This conflict and its potential resolution has extended from the operating room to the halls of the U.S. Congress; and has involved clinical practices, our professional societies, academic institutions, certification boards, government agencies, and even the public we serve. The lecture will discuss the evolution of this union and will address the question: “should and can the marriage survive?”
