Management of the melanoma patient is a complex and rapidly evolving field. Plastic surgeons need to be aware of the recent changes in the subject to provide best patient care.
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to: 1. Identify the management of cutaneous malignant melanoma regarding diagnostic biopsy and currently defined resection margins. 2. Identify the indication for sentinel lymph node biopsy and ongoing clinical trials 3. Discuss the medical therapies for metastatic melanoma 4. Discuss the management (resection and reconstruction) of melanoma in aesthetically sensitive regions including nose, auricle and digit, as well as specific situations including pregnancy.
