Dueling Perspectives in Explantation: En Bloc or Not Sun, Oct 18 12:30-1:30 p.m. CDT

Hot Topic! Patients may present requesting to have an 'en bloc' procedure to address implant concerns. This point-counterpoint session discusses the science behind when and why, or more importantly when not and why not to do explant/capsulectomy.

Following this activity, the learner will:

  1. Understand the indications, contraindications, considerations, and complications in explant/capsulectomy based on current scientific understanding
  2. Have an approach to pocket control following explant/capsulectomy
  3. Know the indications and timing of when to safely carry out mastopexy as an adjunctive procedure
  4. Discuss outcomes of explant/capsulectomy and describe a safe approach to this surgery
