CPT Coding of Facial Trauma Sat, Sep 21 8:00-9:00 a.m.

This course will review the AMA’s Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) code as it pertains to both soft tissue and bony trauma of the face. Focus on coding procedures related to the immediate management of maxillofacial trauma as well as coding related longer term reconstructive procedures. Identifying the appropriate procedural code, concepts in global period, strategies to demonstrate complexity and appropriate documentation will be discussed.

At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the role of CPT coding in the billing process;
  2. Discuss basic concepts of CPT coding in maxillofacial trauma;
  3. Outline challenging areas for coding of maxillofacial trauma.
