The role of the plastic surgeon in reconstruction of spine and pelvic defects will be discussed. Topics will include indications for soft tissue versus bony reconstructions, as well as local/regional versus free tissue transfers.
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify spinal and pelvic defects that benefit from plastic surgical reconstruction
- List the common soft tissue and bony reconstructive options for these defects.
- Discuss impediments to wound healing, and list options to overcome them.
